We Are All Authors

We are all authors.

Life is the beginning.

Death is the ending.

We each write the chapters in between.

God bless your journeys!

Thoughts About Life

It is said that words written on desert sands can be seen on the morrow, borne on desert winds.

Words of secrecy should never be spoken in the night, for sounds travel easier in the dark than in the light.

Speak of no confessions by a pond or lakeside for words travel quickly over water, heard easily on the other side.

Keep well your promises for they have strings much stronger than steel, anchored to your conscience. Break one, and your conscience will be unbalanced and hurt all the days of your life.

To err is human, to forgive divine.

Having to do neither one ever is paradise.

Hard to Please

Man is sometimes a restless creature.

It is but one of his many features.

Wanting what he can’t have to fulfill a desire,

Sometimes he’ll struggle until he expires.

With a bank account full, he’ll strain for still more,

Worrying about investments as he paces the floor.

He won’t give up, and he sure won’t quit.

He certainly will not enjoy his wealth one little bit!

Cemeteries fill up, stopping these desires and suspense.

So many dying, they’ve had to build a fence.

Someone else will spend that wealth that he worked so hard to get,

But from where he now lies, he can have no regret.

Discovering Your Gifts Inside You

If more people would spend more time and effort to discover and improve who they are

rather than who they would like to be (copycat),

they would be more likely to find unwrapped gifts inside themselves, including happiness.

Think of what joy that would bring!

Dugger Vance

There once was a man named Dugger Vance

Who grew too large for his pants.

He slaved for nickels and died for dimes,

But Digger lived in the best of times.

In a cemetery, he rests alone,

But he made his mark – it’s etched in stone.

Happy New Year 2018!

Hello out there to everyone reading my web site. Another year is upon us. I hope all of you enjoyed a wonderful Christmas and brought in the New Year with a glass or two of cheer, keeping warm.

A lot of you probably got your fill of football bowl games. Speaking of which, there are ones that I have never even heard of. Whoever names them is much too creative for me.

I have taken a break from writing for some time – a sabbatical so to speak – but I’m slowly getting back on track again. So check in on my web site periodically and visit me.

Warmest wishes for a Happy New Year to every one of you!

Fountain of Youth

Ponce de Leon searched for the Fountain of Youth in vain, but you and I can find it easily. Just attend a Yoga or Tai Chi class or get on a treadmill or elliptical machine – you have found it!

Travelers

I was relaxing in front of the television, my mind a million miles away, when a random thought entered my mind. The thought crystallized and took form like a beautiful sunset with quiet but forceful insistence. Suddenly, other thoughts began to enter and materialize in planned order, almost as if they were designed through careful planning and arranged in order.

First of all, do not concern yourself too much about accumulating material things because they are fleeting. We acquire, use, discard, sell, or give them away. The main point to always remember is they are passing — simply tools, if you will, in our progression of growth.

The drive and desire to accumulate material things require valuable time, which is the most precious commodity of all. Not only that, but the energy and planning to acquire them can interfere with living and enjoying life. Remember, only man and apes have a prehensile, grasping hand that can grasp and hold tight. We have the choice to do that or not.

Never let the idea of abundant personal possessions mold you because we are more important than that! We are here to learn whatever life can teach us before we move on. You are not going to take it with you, so why overly concern yourself?

Seek out enrichment through knowledge and fulfillment which brings contentment. None of us are better than another because of items we own or the greater acquisition of money. No, we are all made of the same basic material. When our learning period is finished, so is life.

We should remember, therefore, to be humble, and learn as much as we can absorb because our time on this planet we call home is only temporary. We are in transit and bound for a better place. After all, we have an everlasting promise. These thoughts give me great comfort.

And so it is.

God’s blessings upon your journey. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to one and all!

My Dream

Please do not destroy my dream.

It’s nothing to you, but to me it’s everything.

Would You?

If you could go back in time and change your life,

Would you?

If you could correct all those mistakes and poor choices made,

Could you?

If you could give back all your ill-gotten gains at others’ expense,

Would you dare?

If you could take back harsh, angry words and false promises,

Do you care?

Would you continue walking the same hateful, twisted path,

While behind you are condemnation, mixed with wrath?

You could change this if go back you could,

Change all your mistakes, if only you would.

Would you?

NOTE: Changing your future is something you can control — if you think you should.

God’s blessings upon your journey!
