Today

Today is a time of reaffirmation,

not of who I am,

but who He is.

Yesterday is but a test trail of my memory.

Tomorrow is but a test of my hope and faith.

For in the twilight of life’s final performance,

the stage curtain very slowly begins to close.

And so it is.

Life Abundant

The Sound of Silence

Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I Am God.”

Do you know what silence sounds like?

Did you know that music is a series of sounds separated by silence?

In this busy world, it is almost impossible to hear the sound of silence.

However, I treasure it above all else.

Imagine a magical, serene time totally void of any sound on your ears.

One’s mind completely relaxes, and one can visualize waves breaking on a distant, sandy shore – without sound.

From deep within our mind, a new, pure thought emerges in this blessed silence.

It would have never arrived in its present form because of the noise, clutter, give and take of everyday life. Instead, it would have arrived all covered in bandages from injuries caused by the extraneous, outside world. It would be confused, lacking clarity, and without peace.

The idea is to intentionally become more aware of the Sound of Silence.

God bless your journey!

Travelers

I was relaxing in front of the television, my mind a million miles away, when a random thought entered my mind. The thought crystallized and took form like a beautiful sunset with quiet but forceful insistence. Suddenly, other thoughts began to enter and materialize in planned order, almost as if they were designed through careful planning and arranged in order.

First of all, do not concern yourself too much about accumulating material things because they are fleeting. We acquire, use, discard, sell, or give them away. The main point to always remember is they are passing — simply tools, if you will, in our progression of growth.

The drive and desire to accumulate material things require valuable time, which is the most precious commodity of all. Not only that, but the energy and planning to acquire them can interfere with living and enjoying life. Remember, only man and apes have a prehensile, grasping hand that can grasp and hold tight. We have the choice to do that or not.

Never let the idea of abundant personal possessions mold you because we are more important than that! We are here to learn whatever life can teach us before we move on. You are not going to take it with you, so why overly concern yourself?

Seek out enrichment through knowledge and fulfillment which brings contentment. None of us are better than another because of items we own or the greater acquisition of money. No, we are all made of the same basic material. When our learning period is finished, so is life.

We should remember, therefore, to be humble, and learn as much as we can absorb because our time on this planet we call home is only temporary. We are in transit and bound for a better place. After all, we have an everlasting promise. These thoughts give me great comfort.

And so it is.

God’s blessings upon your journey. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to one and all!

Would You?

If you could go back in time and change your life,

Would you?

If you could correct all those mistakes and poor choices made,

Could you?

If you could give back all your ill-gotten gains at others’ expense,

Would you dare?

If you could take back harsh, angry words and false promises,

Do you care?

Would you continue walking the same hateful, twisted path,

While behind you are condemnation, mixed with wrath?

You could change this if go back you could,

Change all your mistakes, if only you would.

Would you?

NOTE: Changing your future is something you can control — if you think you should.

God’s blessings upon your journey!

Lost Time

If we be going, let us be gone

For wasted time has already flown.

Like seeds in ground already sown,

Time has fled to parts unknown.

Sadness enters at its waste –

We could already be at our desired place!

Winds of Change

The winds flow playfully and unchecked around and through chambers of time. They have blown this way throughout millennia. No one knows where they come from or how they are created.

Instruments to measure, record, and track time were but thoughts and dreams of a conscious mind waiting to become many centuries away. Time as we know it would relentlessly march on until man came into being and create these instruments.

The wind still blows as it will, sometimes strongly and occasionally softly. Our Planet Earth continues to spin rapidly in space.

In the limitless vastness of space, time as we understand it becomes irrelevant due to the tremendous distances between us and other galaxies. Consider this: We are all space travelers, spinning in the endless ether of stars and other planets without number. I think it is funny that we are looking for space aliens! I wonder if they would view us the same way?

Eventually, we as a species will venture even deeper into space in large numbers. It will be a necessity due to dwindling finite resources brought on by an ever-increasing population. Time and necessity will bring about this change.

Meanwhile, it is better to enjoy the changing seasons on our beautiful Terra Firma, along with its rain, wind, sunshine, or snow. Life will unfold with each new day, bringing forth new sensations, trials, and challenges. Take time to absorb and enjoy your life to the fullest extent possible. We are all on this planet. All is well, so sit back and enjoy the journey.

We only make this trip once. Peace be with you as we travel through space.

The Winds of Change are still blowing.

The Dancers

Through ancient shifting sands of time,

Two souls interlocked sublime,

Dancing in ecstasy to continuous unheard music,

Like sand falls endlessly through the hourglass of Time.

The Rainbow

THE RAINBOW

While traveling home from work on a cloudy day,
Traffic caused my car to stop, so I paused to pray.
I was tired, and my mind was on overload,
But my spirit overruled my mind there upon the road.

Have you ever sensed His Presence and felt you’re not alone?
You feel free, without burden,
Because your sins have taken wings and flown.
Freedom at last, and the key word here is free!

When I opened my eyes, the traffic thinned, and the sun came out.
I experienced joy and wanted to shout.
The Promise was, is, and will never die:
Behold a beautiful rainbow, painted in the sky.

Not just any rainbow, I would have you understand,
For it soothed my mind and calmed my nerves
While refreshing my faith.
This beautiful rainbow was painted by my Master’s Hand.

It was, is, and shall always be,
Set against a cloud-filled sky:
A marvel to behold for all wondering eyes to see,
Until the sands of time through the hour glass run,
It’s there for you and me.

Ole Father Time

Once again, Ole Father Time

Has harvested yet another year.

His sickle sweeps clear the old calendar,

And another allotted time does appear.

With renewed high hopes and aspirations,

We again march toward our goal.

Determined to keep our resolutions,

We assume our newly-formed role.

Hoisting our banners high,

The new challenges we gladly accept.

Through this new time period,

We’ll strive to be adept.

Should we fail or falter,

One thing is crystal clear,

Ole Father Time waits patiently,

Honing his sickle to reap another year.

My Epitaph

Gaze upon this empty shell

But shed no tear

For it served me well.

There were many things

It couldn’t do

So I’ve slipped it off

Like a well-worn shoe.

When I wore it,

There was pain…

It got burned by the sun

And soaked by the rain.

When it got old,

It couldn’t run

Or hop and skip

Or dance in fun.

Chairs and beds

Had to be arranged

To keep it warm

When the weather changed.

Its hair thinned out,

And its eyes grew dim…

A burst of energy was

But a dreamy whim.

The body grew wrinkled,

But the brain increased.

Knowledge and wisdom expanded

As mobility ceased.

Life’s run is over now.

The spirit seeks a better place.

Time for the old body to rest,

But, wow, what a race!
